PRESIDENT CARD ORDER

THREE IS DIRT.
TWO STAYS LIVE.

In President, cards normally rank 3 low through 2 high. Suits usually do not matter, but Bleach uses clubs, diamonds, hearts, then spades to break equal-rank ties.

The standard President rank is 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, jack, queen, king, ace, 2. A higher number or face beats a lower one, with 2 sitting above the ace.

This upside-down-looking ladder is intentional. Low cards are hard to unload late in a pile. Twos are powerful because they sit at the top, but they stay in play until everyone else passes.

Does suit matter in President?

Usually, no. Most traditional rules treat all cards of one rank as equal. That means a 9♣ and 9♠ have the same strength, so an equal 9 cannot beat the 9 already on the pile unless the group uses an equal-play house rule.

Bleach uses an equal-play rule with ordered suits. An equal rank is legal when the new play’s suit strength is equal or higher:

LOW
SECOND
THIRD
HIGH

How suit works for pairs and triples

First compare the rank shared by the cards. If both combinations have the same rank, total their suit values. A pair containing 8♣ and 8♠ is equal to 8♦ and 8♥, so either may follow the other. A higher total also plays.

The count still has to match. A triple of 6s cannot answer a pair of 5s, even though it contains more cards and a higher rank.

How do 2s work?

A 2 is the highest rank. Unbeatable 2 plays clear the pile and let their player lead again if they still have cards: 2♠ alone, 2♠ + 2♦, 2♠ + 2♥, any triple of 2s, or any four 2s. Other singles and pairs stay live and follow the normal suit-strength rules.

President is a folk game with many variants, not one official universal ruleset. Bleach labels its differences so your online table stays consistent.
